Im Ersten Weltkrieg k\u00e4mpfte er in der 3. Maschinengewehr-Kompanie eines bayerischen Landsturm-Infanterie-Regiments. Am 21.08.1918 verstarb er nach 10 monatiger Krankheit im Alter von 22 Jahren in einem Krankenhaus in M\u00fcnchen-Schwabing.
