Im Ersten Weltkrieg diente er in der 6. Kompanie des 14. bayerischen Reserve-Infanterie-Regiments. An 16.08.1917 fiel er im Alter von 26 Jahren in Flandern durch Granatschuss. Er war mit dem Eisernen Kreuz 2.
