Im Ersten Weltkrieg diente er in der 11. Kompanie des 11. bayerischen Infanterie-Regiment. Wann er starb ist ebenso unklar, wie der Ort seines Ablebens. Fest steht, dass er als Reservist im Alter von 23 Jahren verstarb. Einges deutet darauf hin, dass er w\u00e4hrend der Schlacht in Lothringen am 20.08.1914 in Gefangenschaft geriet (er galt zun\u00e4chst als vermisst) und in Gefangenschaft in <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Castelnaudary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Castelnaudary<\/a> an einer Verwundung starb. Es gibt keinen Ort mit dem auf dem Sterbebild angegebenen Namen.
