Im Ersten Weltkrieg diente er als Reservist in der 9. Kompanie des 2. bayerischen Infanterie-Regiments. Am 05.11.1914 fiel er im Alter von 26 Jahren w\u00e4hrend der Stellungsk\u00e4mpfe bei P\u00e9ronne.
