Er diente im Ersten Weltkrieg als Infanterist in der 11. Kompanie des 20. Infanterie-Regiments, als er am 24.05.1917 w\u00e4hrend der <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schlacht_an_der_Aisne_(1917)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Schlacht an der Aisne<\/a> bei den Gefechten in der Champagne bei Bousonville (<a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chemin_des_Dames\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chemin des Dames<\/a>) im Alter von 20 Jahren fiel.
