Im Ersten Weltkrieg diente er als Gefreiter in der 4. Kompanie des 20. bayerischen Infanterie-Regiments. Am 30.11.1917 verstarb er im Alter von 23 in einem Feldlazarett, angeblich in Flandern, an einer Lungenentz\u00fcndung.
