Imk Ersten Weltkrieg diente er als Gefreiter im 3. bayerischen Fu\u00dfartillerie-Regiment. Er wurde mit dem Eisernen Kreuz 2. Klasse und mit dem Milit\u00e4rverdienstkreuz mit Schwertern ausgezeichnet.
