Im Ersten Weltkrieg k\u00e4mpfte er in der 11. Kompanie des 2. Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiments als Landsturmmann. In der gleichen Einheit k\u00e4mpfte auch sein Bruder, Josef Nigl.
