Im Ersten Weltkrieg diente er in der 1. Kompanie des 2. Reserve-Infanterie-Regiments als Reservist und Infanterist. Am 20.08.1914 fiel er im Alter von 24 Jahren bei <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/JSvAkFyG97C2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St. Johann in Bassel<\/a>\u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/eWbciUbTgME2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Langatte<\/a>.
