Im Ersten Weltkrieg diente er in der 2. Kompanie des 1. Infanterie-Regiments als Infanterist. Am 13.07.1916 fiel er im Alter von 19 Jahren am <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fort_Douaumont\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fort Douaumont<\/a>.
