Im Ersten Weltkrieg diente er als Gefreiter in der 2. Batterie des 1. Feld-Artillerie-Regiments. Er wurde mit dem\u00a0Verdienstkreuz und Medaille f\u00fcr 7 j\u00e4hrige Dienstzeit ausgezeichnet.
