Im Ersten Weltkrieg k\u00e4mpfte er als Major und Kommandeur des II. Bataillons der Schutztruppe f\u00fcr Deutsch-S\u00fcdwestafrika. Am 25.09.1914 fiel er w\u00e4hrend der K\u00e4mpfe gegen britische Truppen bei <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Strandfontein_(S%C3%BCdafrika)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sandfontein<\/a> in Namibia.
